Masquerade Cosplay Magazine #19 - Fae Raven

Masquerade Cosplay Magazine

Monday again!

I was originally supposed to shoot on Saturday, but that ended up getting postponed due to the model having a family matter. I was intending to keep my weekend clear to catch up with some editing, but I ended up booking a last minute shoot on Sunday, with Elixir Black again, and also Konstantine. It turned out these two knew one another, and were looking to do a duo shoot, so I jumped at the opportunity. I did a single set with each of them quickly, and we shot 3 different looks in a similar setting. I am really excited to edit their photos! I forgot to take any back of the camera shots as It was a quick shoot, but I did record time lapse videos to make more reels!

Last week, I also had this great cover come out from my shoot with Fae Raven. I submitted our Boba Fett latex images to Retro Lovely Magazines. Masquerade magazine which is for Cosplay. I wasn’t expecting another cover, but I was really pleased to see it there.

I still have the rest of the images from our shoot to share, so keep a look out for a separate post for those! But below is the time-lapse reel from this Boba Fett look!

Modsquad Issue #2 - Olivia Sumners

Modsquad Magazine

I hope everyone has had a good week. I have been off from my full time job (Retoucher), and I really lucked out with the weather! It has been lovely having some downtime, but also planning for shoots coming up. I also got the news of a new cover with Modsquad, this time with the lovely Olivia at Lil’ Sweetheart Latex. Olivia is someone I am lucky enough to call a close friend. We met last year when we first worked together, it turned out we don’t live far from one another, and we just immediately clicked. I couldn’t resist us shooting her Cowgirl inspired latex outfits, and we had fun with these! Have a look below for a little behind the scenes reel!

Yesterday, I spent the day shooting the gorgeous Fae Raven. Fae & I first worked together back in 2011 when I was in university, and then again in 2012 when I wanted to shoot a charity calendar to raise money for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. I can’t believe it has been 10 years since our last shoot, but it was so great to be able to work with her again, and hopefully there won’t be such a big gap between our next shoot! Look before for some back of the camera shots!

Next weekend I am working with the awesome Elixir Black whilst she is visiting the UK, and I am really excited for that shoot!

Venus Cult Magazine #68 - Polly Anther

Venus Cult Magazine

It has been exactly a week since my last update, and here I am to share my 2nd cover with Venus Cult Magazine & Polly Anther. We shot this leopard print look in a part of my bedroom, and I really love how these shots came out. I was not expecting them to select this for a cover as well, so that was a lovely surprise!

I am currently making plans for next weeks shoots, and have some bits coming from designers for them which is great. I am also still working my way through my shoot with Psycatt, and they should be finished very soon!

In the mean time, have another behind the scenes reel below!

Venus Cult Magazine #67 - Polly Anther

Venus Cult Magazine

It’s nearly the weekend! I haven’t got many shoots planned for this month. I actually didn’t intend to plan any as I had other things to shoot, and also I wanted to catch up on previous shoots. But, I now have a couple towards the end of the month which I am excited for! One with someone I haven’t worked with before, and every time she has previously visited the UK I have missed her, so that will be great. The 2nd is hopefully with someone I have not worked with in years! She was actually one of the first models I worked with when I was back in University, so it will be great to see her.

Earlier this week, I got the goods news of getting a cover with Venus Cult Magazine with the 80s glam metal look Polly Anther & I shot! This is a part of Retro Lovely Magazine. I wasn’t expecting it, as I had submitted a few of our sets to various spin offs of their magazine. I am so glad they picked this set for a cover though, as it is one of my favourites!

I still have a couple more covers to come out, which I am excited to see! and also start sharing the images from those shoots.

Be sure to check out the behind the scenes time-lapse reel on Instagram of this shoot below!

It is Known - Femme Rebelle Magazine

It is July, and I can finally share with the images I shot back at the end of May with the awesome Halatirno

The reason it has taken so long is because I submitted them to Femme Rebelle Magazine, as I was so proud of this shoot and what Gulli and I had created. She made the gorgeous blue dress you see, plus the grey accessories to go with it. I was kindly sent the Scalemail accessories from the talented designer It Is Known all the way from New York. She had approached me about a collaboration, and I did not even need to hesitate as her work is gorgeous. I was also sent the beautiful crown by Pretty Peculiar, which went well with the whole outfit.

Make sure to check out the full issue, but below is the tearsheets featuring our images.

I really love how these shots in the green dress & gold headpiece from Pretty Peculiar came out. These were not submitted, as they didn’t feature the scalemaile, and it was a last look we did just to end our day of shooting.

Below, you can find the rest of the images from this shoot. I shot quite a bit, and wanted to showcase Guillis blue dress as best as I could, especially as she had made it so it was customisable, and bits could be removed or moved around to style it differently.

If you look even further down, you can find a little behind the scenes video I did from the day.

Make sure to give everyone I mentioned a follow across social media 🙂

I am still here!

I am still here!

I honestly can’t believe I have left it this long since I last updated! Life has just kind of flown by in the past few months and here we are already in June!

I have been busy with both my retouching job, but also it has been so lovely being able to work with other people on shoots since restrictions were lifted! I had my first shoot of 2021 back in April with Lily Omen (pictured right), and have been trying to shoot most weekends since! I have managed to do a bit of self shooting as well on the side of that, but honestly, I haven’t really had the time or the desire to as much now I have new faces to work with.

My shoot with Lily was fantastic, and we had never worked together before which was lovely. She was wonderful to work with, and we got so much done in the time that we had which was amazing. I am really hoping our paths cross again soon! I then shot with another new face to me, also in April, by the name of Olivia, who is also a latex designer under the name Lil’ Sweetheart Shop. She is someone that is fairly local to me, and we hit it off almost immediately. We shot a few of her designs, and although she is fairly new to modelling, she was lovely to work with and settled into it really quickly.

Lastly in April, I finally got to work with the pin up beauty that is Stephanie Jay. We have had plans to work together for a while now, and did have something booked in for last year until the C word scarpered those plans. But finally managed to get something in after lockdown, and we had a great shoot, she is such a pro. I really hope we can work together again.

Then in May, I got to do 2 more shoots I have had in the works for a while. Because of no conventions, I have really missed photographing cosplayers. I only managed one cosplay shoot in 2020, and I have been desperate to do more. So when Beyond Believing approached me last year about shooting her genderbent Geralt from Witcher, I jumped at the chance! Not only is it one of my favourite games, but her cosplay is based off of the Netflix series which I absolutely love! I found the perfect location that wasn’t too far from me, and we also really lucked out with the weather day, as the weather had been awful in the run up to it. We also shot a bit of Geralt back in my studio, plus some fitness looks as Nieke is a cross fitter. We got some really fab shots that day, and I also did a behind the scenes video which you can find below.

Check out the gallery below featuring some shots from the shoots I have done these past couple of months!

Behind the scenes video with Beyond Believing Cosplay.

My last shoot for May was with Halatirno. Again, this was another that had been planned for a while, but restrictions had prevented it from happening.

I contacted Gulli when I had a designer in America sending me some gorgeous scale mail items to shoot. Last year we shot some beautiful photos with a chainmail hood, so I knew instantly she would be perfect for this. She went to amazing lengths and crafted the most stunning gown just for our shoot! Again, I managed to find the perfect location for this and we had the most amazing weather for the day too.

I am still working my way through all the images, but here is a shot taken from my computer screen, plus some behind the scenes & location shots.

I will have plenty to share once all edited, plus I did another behind the scenes video.

I will try not to leave it so long until my next update!

Teagan Paige - Second Shoot Edited!

Teagan Paige - Second Shoot Edited!

Towards the end of August I got to work with Teagan Paige for a second time before she was leaving the UK! I was so glad we got to shoot again, as we always have fun on our shoots, and end up producing some great stuff. We first worked together 8 years ago, and the images are still some of my favourites

I had been sent a couple of harness & corset sets from Basque & Glory for our shoot, and we also wanted to do something with flowers in the bathtub.

When it came to shooting the corset sets, we stayed dark with the Black set, with hints of pink from coloured gels. With the pink set we stayed bright & colourful. I did originally make a note of my light set up, but with everything going on recently with renovating, It all slipped my mind and I no longer have it saved!

For the flower set, we shot in my bathtub. I had originally wanted to shoot in a paddling pool in my garden, but the weather had typically really turned that weekend (after weeks of a heatwave) so the bath was the best option. Instead of having the white of the tub as the background, I laid down a black muslin backdrop so we got darker results. I had aiming at the white ceiling, a light, and another aiming across the bath, with a pastel turquoise gel for a slight hint of colour.

I really loved how the flower shots turned out. I have wanted to do something with water for ages, but timing, weather, amongst other things have stopped it from happening.

I hope I get to catch her again when she returns to the UK!

Here is the little behind the scenes video from this shoot!I My stand unfortunatly slipped without me realising, so excuse the slight cut off the top at the start! I have since repurchased a Canon M10, not just for having a smaller camera to carry around for trips, but also to aim to do more and better behind the scenes videos like I used to. Teagan Paige - Edited!

I have been busy the last few weekends with shoots, and it’s felt great. Today I had my last shoot until about October due to a renovation project that needs my full time and attention if I wish to have it completed. But this also gives me time to catch up on my editing work.

Today’s shoot was with Teagan Paige again, and it was her last as she is leaving the UK next week, so I was glad to fit her in again before she leaves!

Here is a little peek of what we shot today! I had Basque & Glory send me a couple of cute sets (which I will also be self shooting soon) and we also did some images in the bath with flowers.

My last shoot with Teagan Paige was great fun, and we both went into it blind as I had been let down by another model last minute, and she was on hand to help me out!

Considering we had no idea of what we were going to shoot, we managed to pull together 4 looks which I ended up loving.

My favourite from the set has got to be with the chainmail hood. I have used this a few times now for shoots, and every shoot has come out so different. I think these are probably my favourites. The colours, the styling, the poses, they just all work so well together and created some strong beauty images.

I still have my Witcher cosplay shoot to finish, and I am also waiting on Charlotte’s selections from our shoot last weekend. I definitely have a lot to keep me going for a bit. I will also have a behind the scenes video from this shoot as well!

Next weekend I have plans to self shoot, and have 4 looks I wish to do. I will be shooting the 2 Basque & Glory sets I shot this weekend, plus 2 cosplay inspired looks.

Here is the little behind the scenes video from our previous shoot! I would really like to get a proper camera to film behind the scenes again like I used too, but for now they are just filmed on my Google Pixel. Music is by Absent Minds.

Faith Roswell - Extras!

Faith Roswell - Extras!

We are currently in some strange times, and I really hope everyone is keeping safe and well!

Due to obvious reasons, I haven’t done any new model shoots lately. I have never been more excited to be able to get back to doing what I love with other people, but right now I am just focusing on keeping well and staying inside.

I am quite fortunate that I can work remotely from home, so my day job as a retoucher has not been impacted, and due to the current climate, it’s almost the best time to be working in e-commerce right now, as people appear to be online shopping a lot!

To help also keep the time going, and to also keep some sort of normality in my life, I have been self shooting, which I love doing anyway, so keep an eye out for some posts to come on those shoots!

This week I edited some extra shots of Faith from our shoot last month! This was such a hard shoot for me to narrow down, so I am so glad she made some extra choices for me to work on.

I hope you like them!

Faith Roswell - Complete Edit!

Faith Roswell - Complete Edit!

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with the awesome Faith Roswell, someone I wish I had worked with so much sooner! She was the sweetest, nicest person and absolutely killer at making costumes & posing.

As you would have seen on my previous ‘Sneak Peak’ post, you will see that we shot 3 different looks on our shoot. I also did a bit of timelapse recording of our shoot to create a little behind the scenes video. I used to create these kind of videos all the time, and its something I wish to pick up again! Unfortunately on this occasion my stand holding the phone was a bit damaged, and I didn’t notice it had moved and tilted the phone. So, its not the best recording angle due to this, but you get the idea. I will make sure to use a different stand next time. I also forgot to put it on for the last look, so there is only the first 2 looks!

My lighting set up mostly involved using 3 – 4 lights, 2 o which are Bowens Geminis, and 2 a simply battery speed lights. For our first set, which was the blue, I had a snoot to the left of Faith hitting her shoulder and side, to her right I had a softbox with a red gel in. At her front, I had my beauty dish with honeycomb grid aiming down towards her, and underneath that aiming up I had a reflector dish with a diffuser and blue gel on it – basically forming a clam shell. The shadows with the colours really makes this set more dynamic I feel, especially with Faiths expressions and posing.

My second light set up was similar to the first, in that it involved using the clam shell lighting again, this time with a green gel on the bottom. To the left of Faith I had the softbox with a red gel, and to the right up high I had a translucent white umbrella aiming down to catch the hair.

My final set up, I used the same as the second, and just changed the green gel to orange, and added a yellow gel to my umbrella to give more warmth to the hair. This look was wasteland warrior inspired, so I wanted to use warm colours to give a apocalyptic feel.

I really enjoyed this shoot, and after having a bunch of last minute cancellations, it was lovely to work with someone reliable. and who put their all into what they do. Already looking forward to our next collaboration!
